DEFINITION

  • Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory or emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage.
  • Low back pain (LBP) refers to as pain and discomfort, localized below the costal margin and above the inferior, gluteal folds, with or without leg pain.
  • It can be classified as acute; ( 3 months) or chronic; (3 months)

90% in pt >45years old

80% resolves with conservative treatment (in 3 months)

Only 5-10% may require operation

  • Commonly at lumbosacral junction (L3/L5,L5/S1)
